Keeping New Year resolutions made easy with the new-look Polar FT7

Polar, the market leader and pioneer in heart rate training technology, adds new color to heart rate based training with the launch of fresh, new color designs of the FT7 training computer. With the new FT7, Polar can turn good intentions into results and help people achieve their resolutions of getting into better shape this year.

By giving the user clear and simple training guidance, the FT7 is the ideal choice for anyone looking for an introduction to heart rate based training. The unique EnergyPointer feature indicates visually whether the main effect of the training is fitness improvement or fat burning. The feature uses heart rate variability to calculate the center point between the two training effects. When the heart rate is below the point, the user is improving their fat burning. And above the point, the user improves their aerobic fitness.

The FT7 also counts and displays the calories burnt and connects with the online training diary at polarpersonaltrainer.com via the optional Polar FlowLink data transfer unit. Using this web service the user can interact with other active people, analyze training results, see their training load status, and get online training guidance. Seeing their progress over time online motivates people to stick to their resolutions of getting fitter.

The comfortable Polar WearLink®+ transmitter, which comes with every FT7, picks up the heart’s signals and relays the data to the training computer. The soft textile strap seamlessly adapts around the user’s chest bringing full freedom of movement to the training session. In addition, each transmitter is individually coded, eliminating any cross-over during group exercise or when there are several people training together.

“The FT7 is ideal for a first heart rate monitoring experience. It gives clear guidance all the way through the training session,” says Liz Shenton, Education Manager for Polar Electro UK. “The product is really easy to use and it comes with eight different display languages. All you have to do is to grab your new training computer, put on the comfortable textile transmitter, and you’re ready to enjoy whatever sports you want. The FT7 makes it easy to keep your New Year’s resolution of getting in better shape.”

On sale through authorized Polar retailers from January 2011, the FT7 will be available in two new color designs, black/red and red/silver, the latter designed specially for women. All sets include the WearLink®+ transmitter, and a quick guide. The Polar FlowLink can be purchased separately as an accessory.
