The Lucozade Sport Race Your Pace Half Marathon

by Editor
Monday 1st February 2010

Human Race is pleased to launch a new pacing event. Race Your Pace comes to Dorney Lake, near Windsor, a stunning location for a half marathon (13.1 miles).

The course has been measured by Hugh Jones, the London Marathon course measurer, and you are guaranteed an accurate distance with accurate mile markers - ideal for your PB over a half marathon.

With the support of Lucozade Sport, we’re offering runners the opportunity to understand and experience one of the key factors in running a successful race – pace judgement. Distance running is all about running at the correct pace and even some of the top class athletes need pacers at the major marathon events around the world. This pancake flat, 4 lap course is ideal for you to find your correct pace and ideal for your PB over the half marathon distance.

There will also be a series of 20 minute post race seminars. These seminars will be hosted by double Olympian Liz Yelling and will focus on Improving Your Performance and getting the best out of your run in preparation for a spring Marathon.

The event will cater for runners of all abilities and speeds, and in order for you to get the most out of the event we’re splitting runners in terms of ability. There will be 2 group races - Performers and Improvers. You will be given the opportunity to manage your pace in two separate starts with the help of pacers.

PERFORMERS

  • The first pace group PERFORMERS has a start time of 10:00am
  • You should have a half marathon target time of 1hr 05 to 1hr 45 (2hr 30 to 4hr for a marathon).
  • There will be pacers for 7/7.5/8/8.5 mins per mile
Seminars for PERFORMERS will be held at: 12pm, 12:30pm & 1pm.

IMPROVERS

  • The second pace group IMPROVERS has a start time of 12:30pm
  • You should have a half marathon target time of anything over 1hr 45 (4.00hrs + for a marathon).
  • There will be pacers for 8/8.5/9/9.5/10/10.5/11/11.5/12 mins per mile
    Seminars for IMPROVERS will be held at: 2:30pm, 3pm, 3:30pm & 4pm.

Entry for the seminar is included in the £30 entry fee so be sure to select this option when entering online. Places are limited so get in early.

Lucozade Sport’s Performance Zone will be open to all competitors, allowing you access to their outstanding team of Sports Scientists, products and race day tools throughout the day. For the latest from Lucozade Sport's Sport Science, CLICK HERE.

Whether you’re a running veteran or a first time marathon runner, we highly recommend that you build this event into your running calendar to help you stay ahead of the game and really crack race day.
