Race news: A brand NEW Winter Trail Run and Off Road Duathlon Series for 2013
A brand NEW Winter Trail Run and Off Road Duathlon Series for 2013 has been announced. The events will be located at the Berkshire College of Agriculture Estate, which lies some four miles to the West of Maidenhead, a similar distance south of Marlow and east of Henley. At 100 metres above sea level, on high ground overlooking the south bank of the river Thames, the estate lies at the southern boundary of the chalk lands of the Chiltern Hills.
Perfectly set for off road and trail events, the estate is set naturally in heavy clay soils and a clay, flint and chalk mix, which allow for moderately productive farming with a dominance of oak, ash, beech and sycamore as the re-generating tree species. The area offers relatively low rainfall with surface water rapidly disappearing underground through a series of swallow holes into the underlying chalk.
With very limited events like this in the market it is an opportunity to really put your winter training to the ultimate test. These events are open to all levels and will test the ability and fitness of every participant. Be the first to take part in these new fun and exciting events in 2013.

Event details:
With a steady start through the high grounds of the college estate grounds, the Trail Run soon takes participants out over the fields and surrounding grounds taking in many ups and downs, plus views over the looking the surrounding Thames Valley Countryside. To help make the run that little bit more interesting, participants will find a few obstacles to jump over or water to run through.
Towards the end of the run route it becomes more of scenic route around the grounds of the college allowing participants to brush themselves off before entering the finishing loop and back to near the start, in front of Hall Place Mansion House.
Possibly thinking that the run has taken in most of the estate grounds, bikers will be directed away from the run route around an undulating, sometimes fast (depending on the weather) course with some added obstacles in place to add to the challenge.
Mountain bikes are definitely recommended if you want to make it round in one piece. Don’t try and keep your bike clean as this will be impossible. If you want give your bike a quick clean there will be hose available for participants to spray off their bikes near the finish.
With four events in the series, there is plenty of time through the winter to improve on your times, but don’t expect to break any personal bests for 5km or 10km!!!
We are not expecting the weather to be wild, tough, windy or icy, but the trail run course will definitely provide a good challenge.
