The organisers promise the Big Fun Run will be a fabulous day out as well as the perfect chance to raise thousands for charity. Their determination to make the events open to all and simply a chance to have fun in the great outdoors means there’s no pressure to beat the clock. In fact the runs are not timed and best of all- kids under five go free.
Big Fun Run organiser, Neil Kilgour, said: “ The Big Fun Run is strictly for FUN.
“It’s all about easy, relaxed exercise. There are no times, no pressure, no sweat. It’s all about easy moves, lots of laughs and fun with your friends and family. This isn’t about Olympic level athletes charging about in record times. It’s about mums with prams, dads with toddlers, fancy dress and a fantastic fun mix. Are you getting a picture of something a little bit different? Come and be a part of it. We’d love to see you and all are welcome.”
More than 7,000 people took part and £100,000 was raised for charities at the 2012 Big Fun Run series. The events proved particularly popular with children’s charities as the low-key and friendly buzz makes it a great choice for a family day out. Building on this success story, organisers are confident that record numbers will sign up for 2013. Set in scenic locations including everywhere from Liverpool’s beautiful Sefton Park to Roundhay Park in Leeds, Hove Park in Brighton to the 169 acre Bellahouston Park in the heart of Glasgow, the only challenge will be deciding which event to sign up for.
