Race news: RG Active Cross Country Racing in 2013

In 2013 RG Active will be hosting a number of Cross Country races to be held at the Redricks Lakes facility. If the thought of Cross Country takes you back to your school days and sends a shiver down you spine, we can empathise! However if you can answer yes to one, some or all of the questions below, then maybe it could be for you:

  • Do you like to compete against others?
  • Do you like the thought of gauging your fitness throughout the year by racing on the same course?
  • Do you like to get a little wet and muddy?
  • Do you like the thought of simply turning up for a race, doing the race and then going home? No t-shirt, no medal, no prizes. Just racing!
  • Do you like the idea of cheap racing?

So did you answer yes to any of the questions? Of course you did, so here's some more information about the Cross Country races we are offering.

What's the Race?

A Cross Country running race. The race will be set in the grounds of Redricks Lakes, so you can expect to be mostly running on grass/gravel. We are working on there being a few obstacles to make it a bit more fun. The exact race distance is to be confirmed as we are still working on the route. It will be no more than 10km. We are opening the race up to ages 12yrs and upwards and the race distance will vary according to age.

When is the Race?

There will be 6 Cross Country races in 2013, the dates are as follows:

  • Saturday 2nd February
  • Saturday 2nd March
  • Saturday 6th April
  • Saturday 5th October
  • Saturday 2nd November
  • Saturday 7th December

The races will start at 10am with one mass start.

Who can race?

Anybody over the age of 12 can come along to race.

We will offer different race distances for different age groups, being 12-15, 16-18 and 18+

How do I enter?

You can simply turn up on the morning of the race and complete an entry form at registration. Registration opens at 8:45am and closes at 9:45am.

How much does it cost?

Entry costs:

  • £10 for 18yrs+
  • £8 for 16-18yrs
  • £5 for 12-15yrs

There is no race t-shirt, no goodie bag, no medal. Just simply the opportunity to test yourself in a race environment and hopefully have an enjoyable morning.

How do I get there?

The race will be held at Redricks Lakes, Redricks Lane, Sawbridgeworth, Herts, CM21 0RL. Parking is available

Just simply turn up, fill out an entry form and race. That's it.
