Race preview: Human Race Off Road Series, TuffMan- February 23, 2013
Sports enthusiasts from all over London and East Sussex are signing up in great numbers for the Tuffman Off-Road trail running and duathlon event at Pippingford Park Estate on 23rd February.
The event, organised by leading mass participation company Human Race, is part of five event series which takes places across Surrey, Kent and East Sussex.
The private estate and deer park in the heart of Ashdown Forest consists of mostly woodland and heath with an abundance of natural wildlife, making for a truly stunning venue.
TuffMan is the jewel in the crown for the Human Race Off Road Series and will ensure an exciting and rewarding race in an area of outstanding natural beauty. The sights and scenery are stunning and it is the perfect venue for a gruelling, challenging yet rewarding race
Competitors can choose an 8km run or the duathlon with distances of 8km run, 13km bike and 4km run. There is also the option of signing up to do the duathlon as a relay team.
Duathlons are rising in popularity with competitors enjoying the variety of doing a run, followed by a cycle and finally a run. It’s a great option for people who are keen to do a triathlon but may be put off by the swim. Also with the run being 8kms this is something that many people can easily get involved in and it’s an interesting alternative to a regular road run.
With lots of mud, dirt and challenging hills this is the perfect active start to 2013. There will also be local volunteers there on race day to offer support and assistance along the route.
Like the other Human Race trail running events, participants in the Tuffman are welcome to run along with their dog for some moral support on those steep inclines. At the most recent Iceman event, over 50 competitors choose to participate with their dogs, making for a really fantastic atmosphere.
Nick Rusling, CEO of Human Race said: “Tuffman is a fabulous event which is boosted by this particularly stunning venue. After such a successful Iceman event last month, with close to 1000 participants taking part, we hope to see many local people signing up and helping to make this event special once again.”
