Race news: The Royal Windsor half marathon - May 26, 2013

The Royal Windsor half marathon on the 26th of May is a unique off road half marathon in the heart of the Thames Valley.

The route uses tow path and Jubilee river track and all but 400m of it are off road. The route has its own guide book as it trails its way past famous sites and locations in this part of the world. So as well as the fantastic scenery of the River Thames runners can do a bit of star and history spotting along the way.

Two local events organisers have got back together after many years apart and following different career paths to share their passion for scenic events and create the Windsor Trail Half. Having both enjoyed local races growing up they have raced and participated in a great number of varied events and bring with them some clear ideas of what makes a good race.

The course is probably not a personal best course but is at least flat and the underfoot conditions if dry will be ‘good to firm’.

Drinks and energy stations will be well stocked with Maxifuel products who are kindly sponsoring this event. The event village in Alexandra Gardens will have entertainment and fun runs for the whole family to ensure that not only the runners get a good day out.
