Race news: The North Face® Ultra Trail Du Mont Blanc® - Chamonix, August 26 - September 1, 2013

Among the 6000 runners at the start of one of the The North Face® Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc® races are 1000 elite runners – around fifty of whom are big favourites – who are going to share the same races and the same rules as the 5000 unknown people, coming from the four corners of the world to participate in this big adventure.

For all, there are months of training but for these unknown persons there are intense kilometres between happiness, effort and emotions at the heart of the wonderful landscape at the foot of Mont-Blanc. For ten years, they have been part of The North Face® Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc® and without them, the challenge would be different. They are the keystone of this big challenge and they make the adventure real.

The 1000 others are runners who are used to running races and/or potential winners. They are at the start to make a good time, an exploit.

After a non-exhaustive search through results and world rankings, the organisation has identified some of the favourites for the 2013 race:

  • © CCC® [Courmayeur-Champex-Chamonix] : 3 countries - 100 km and 5,950 meters of vertical gain in semi-autonomy. 
    1900 runners at the start on Friday at 9:00 from Courmayeur to Chamonix in 26 hours max.
  • © TDS® [sur les Traces des Ducs de Savoie] : 119 km and 7,250 meters of vertical gain in semiautonomy. 
    1400 runners at the start on Wednesay at 7:00am from Courmayeur to Chamonix in 33 hours max.
  • © PTL® [la Petite Trotte à Léon] : 3 countries - 300 km and 24,000 meters of vertical gain in complete autonomy. 
    A non-stop adventure race without rankings open to 80 teams Start on Monday at 22:00 from Chamonix to Chamonix in 138 hours max.
