Product review: Run247 columnist Kirsty Reade reviews Multipower's Re-Charge Drink
Those of you who have been doing marathons lately have probably faced the dilemma of how best to recover after those long runs. If you’re anything like me you probably dream about all the nice food you’re going to eat when you get home but when you actually get there you don’t really feel like it. You feel depleted, tired, dehydrated, but often not hungry, though you know you’ve got to have something.
Obviously it’s really important that you do replenish your carbohydrate stores in that all important window after exercise and Multipower have a product to help you do it in a perfectly balanced way.
The Multipower Re-Charge drink is a muscle recovery drink with a carb to protein ratio of 4:1. It comes in powder form in a big tub and all you have to do is mix a couple of scoops into a bottle with 500ml of water in it and give it a shake. It’s orange flavoured (kids of the 70’s, if you remember Birds Appeal, the powdered orange juice drink that your parents bought - it tastes just like that) and it’s very easy to drink, perfect for when you just get in the door after a long run.
It fills up your carbohydrate stores quickly and efficiently and it doesn’t have any of that nasty aspartame in it, like some other sports drinks. I found it perfect for refuelling quickly when I didn’t necessarily feel like eating something but I was really thirsty.
Multipower has a range of products for use before, during and after running.
