La Palma in the Canaries is the venue for this 83km ultra marathon run, with over 2000 international runners taking on a total of 8,500 metres of ascent on the island's spectacular volcanic landscape. Part of the Skyrunner World Series, the event attracts the world's very best trail and ultra runners.
Expectations ran high and so did Transvulcania fever – before, during and after the race. After last year’s launch as the first-ever skyrunning Ultra, the race again kicked off the 2013 season – and more than lived up to expectations. (Click here for a race report)
