Race news: Brighton Half Marathon - Sunday, February 16, 2014

Following a last call for any runners wishing to take part in the Brighton Half Marathon 2014 to enter and secure their place as soon as possible, the race organisers have now confirmed that all public places to the race have been snapped up and that entry closed yesterday (Sunday 30th June).

Brighton Half Marathon - Sunday, February 16, 2014

Taking place on Sunday 16th February, the 2014 race sold out in record time in just two months and a week after the opening of registration, which is quicker than ever before and three months earlier than the 2013 race. A total of 11,000 places were available with more than half of the places sold in the first month alone.

Event Manager Paul Bond commented: “The Brighton Half Marathon has been growing considerably over the past few years and is more popular than ever, with places for the 2014 race gone in record time. The race is now a firm fixture in the running calendar for many runners, and a large number of new runners choose Brighton as their first half marathon due to the beautiful seafront route and iconic city location. It is a very popular race with club runners and a great training ground for all spring marathons. I would like to express a big thank you to everyone that continues to support the Brighton Half Marathon.”

Runners who have missed out on a public place can still enter by registering to run and raise money for one of the official charities. Scope has just been announced as the National Charity Partner, alongside WaterAid (International Charity) and Rise (Local Charity).

The Brighton Half Marathon is organised by and the main fundraising event for Brighton based charity The Sussex Beacon, a unique centre providing innovative services to meet the changing needs of people living with HIV. Runners can also choose to be part of Team Beacon and help raise funds for The Sussex Beacon.

Further details about running for one of the official charities can be found on the charity page on the website.

Partners for the 2014 race confirmed so far include the Seattle Hotel, Visit Brighton, Brighton & Hove City Council and Studio57 Clinic.
