Epic Marathon Camps, launch their new week-long training camps in Morocco starting January11, 2014

Positioned to be Morocco’s premier training camp facility for runners of all abilities aiming to improve speed, endurance and general well-being, whilst uncovering the wild beauty and absorbing culture of Morocco.

Epic Marathon Camps, launch their new week-long training camps in Morocco starting January11, 2014

Designed by world-class professional trainers (including members of Team GB,) and nutritionists, and organised by experienced travel professionals based in Morocco, Epic Marathon Camps offers running holidays that combine scientific training methods with a healthy dose of discovery and adventure.

When it comes to food and nutrition during your Epic Marathon Camp our sports nutritionists have designed each meal using local ingredients to ensure that your food will not only to be delicious and healthy but to compliment and ultimately fuel your training.

The training programme focuses on technique, speed and strengthening and is tailored to the individual’s goals within the group. Each day is different and includes a distance run session, a secondary run session, core training and stretching, with a lecture in the evening. Clients will also benefit from personal one-to-one time with the coaches.

The Camps are based a short drive from Marrakech in an oasis, backed by the Atlas Mountains and overlooking a lake. Morocco is the perfect destination for the camps as it offers wonderful temperatures when the UK is languishing in winter, a short flight time and no time difference, a wide variety of running from one venue, and access to a large community of elite endurance athletes.

Clients will also do a one-day cross-training hike in the majestic Atlas Mountains, where they will get a chance to taste the amazing hospitality of the Berbers and see a way of life that has not changed for hundreds of years.

“We both signed up to run the Marathon Des Sables in 2014,” say founders Alice Morrison and Charlie Shepherd, “and then realised that there was very little training around – there was a huge gap in the market. So, we came up with the Epic Camps concept. It is exactly the kind of training that we need to take part in ourselves and perfect for everyone training for London, Rotterdam, Edinburgh... or any of the great annual marathons. And, of course, MdS!”

The Camps run from Saturday to Saturday or Sunday to Sunday in the second two weeks of every month. The price is £1495 per person exclusive of flights. That includes airport transfers, full board, all soft drinks and snacks, laundry, a day’s hiking in the Atlas Mountains, a one-to-one session with the running coach, a one-to-one session with the core coach and a full sport’s massage.
