Mizuno Endure24 - June 28-29, 2014

Endure24, the 24 hour individual and team relay trail race, is back for 2014 with a confirmed date of 28th - 29th June 2014 and a headline sponsor.

Mizuno Running has been confirmed as the headline sponsor for Endure24 2014, which is now known as Mizuno Endure24. A new website has been launched and Mizuno Endure24 is now open for registration.

Taking place in the scenic Wasing Park Estate in Aldermaston near Reading, Berkshire, Mizuno Endure24 has been growing in both size and popularity since the successful inaugural event in 2012. Aimed at endurance runners of all levels Mizuno Endure24 is now firmly established in the trail and ultra running calendar as an event with a unique festival atmosphere not to be missed.

The 24 hour race starts at noon on Saturday 28th June and finishes at noon on Sunday 29th June, and it is run over an 8 km / 5 mile loop of woodland trails. There is free camping for runners, their families and friends, with specific areas set out for the solo runners. Entertainment, 24 hour catering, luxury toilets and hot showers as well as 24 hour sports massages all contribute to the unique, inspirational atmosphere of Mizuno Endure24. The Mizuno Tech Truck will also be on site for the duration of the event.

The event philosophy is ‘Life begins at the end of your comfort zone’, welcoming both experienced ultra runners and endurance virgins to give it a go and see how far they can take it within the 24 hour period. Runners can enter as solo runners, pairs and teams of either 3-5 or 6-8 runners in mixed, male or female categories, and Mizuno Endure24 is a fantastic opportunity for club runners, corporate teams or charity runners to get together for a weekend of bonding, racing and camping.

The aim is to run as many laps as possible in the 24 hour period per solo runner, pair or team. It’s up to each runner how many laps they complete and how fast they run, although the organisers recommend that runners should be able to run 10k comfortably. Please refer to the info page on the website for the full terms and conditions, including details about night running and feed stations.

The solo winners of Endure24 2013 and current record holders were Jacek Latala, covering 23 laps / 115 miles, and Katie Herrington with 21 laps / 105 miles.

Race Director Chris Sumner commented: “I am proud to announce Mizuno as our new headline sponsor. The event has seen a fantastic response over the last couple of years and is now well-known across the south of England and beyond. This year we had competitors travelling from as far as Oslo and the word is spreading fast. Registration has just opened and already we have got 157 solo runners and 111 teams signed up which is great.

“Mizuno Endure24 celebrates running at its best and is now widely being referred to as ‘Glastonbury for runners’ as far as the unique festival atmosphere is concerned. We look forward to delivering another great event in 2014 and to seeing everyone again next June.”

“Mizuno is absolutely delighted to be headline sponsor of Mizuno Endure24” says Rob Henderson, Mizuno’s UK Marketing Manager. “We took part in the event last year and were captivated by the spirit, challenge and, importantly, fun of the event. It epitomises many of Mizuno’s values and is an event we just had to be part of. Once again, we will be part of the community of runners with several teams participating and we will use the event as a platform to launch our exciting new range of trail running shoes – perfect for Endure24”.

Registration to Mizuno Endure24 is now open and costs £70 for solo runners, £110 for pairs, £200 for teams of 3-5 and £280 for teams of 6-8. The entry fee includes a race t-shirt, free parking and free camping on site plus free sports massages. Entries will close when the maximum capacity of 2,000 runners has been reached.
