Product news: Miles Stronger "the made in Britain sports store" will be showcasing their range at the Running Show at Sandown Park, November 23-24, 2013
A new online sports retailer is offering runners and triathletes a fresh take on shopping by selling products exclusively designed and manufactured in the UK.
Miles Stronger —"the made in Britain sports store" — is the brainchild of two successful entrepreneurs who have already built and sold a thriving IT business.
Miles Stronger — the Made in Britain sports store — sells a range of British-made clothing and accessories for runners and triathletes.
The company was launched in 2013 by Mike Grinsted and Teresa Robbins, keen runners who have already built and sold a successful IT business. Miles Stronger is driven by a shared commitment to support British enterprise and help protect the environment by reducing air miles. |
With their new venture, Mike Grinsted and Teresa Robbins bring together a passion for running and a strong belief that shoppers should have the chance to both support British innovation and better protect the environment by reducing air miles.
They will be showcasing their range at the Running Show at Sandown Park on 23-24 November.
Director Teresa Robbins said: "Our aim with Miles Stronger is to help runners and triathletes make a genuinely informed decision to buy British without in any way compromising on quality or choice. Everything we sell we have personally sourced, and almost every day we're discovering — or being pointed towards — new suppliers with new products, all of them committed to the highest design and manufacture standards. We are also finding a significant proportion of established British companies are now bringing their manufacturing back to the UK, which is great news all round."
The collection features clothing, accessories and nutrition products from both big-brand names — including High5 and Beet It — and lesser-known suppliers, among them 4Distance whose full triathlon range will be exclusively showcased on the Miles Stronger Running Show stand.
Mrs Robbins said: "We are the first retailer to stock 4Distance's triathlon clothing and accessories, and Sandown Park will give us the opportunity to really show them off."
The 4Distance range includes running and cycling shorts, tri-suits and tops, race belts and shoe bonders — clever tabs that prevent shoelaces coming undone.
"We're particularly impressed by 4Distance's commitment to setting benchmarks — their compression shorts, for example, are made from an exclusive fabric they've developed with leading textile company Eschler that delivers exceptional comfort without compromising performance," said Mrs Robbins.
Miles Stronger — which is based in Silchester, between Reading and Basingstoke — also has a range of own-brand clothing and accessories, all of which will be available at the Running Show, on stand A44.
