Bath Half Marathon (BATHALF) Family Fun Run - Sunday, March 2, 2014

Entries are now open for the Bath Half Marathon (BATHALF) Family Fun Run 2014, which will take place just after the start of the main event on Sunday 2 March.

The Fun Run has grown year on year with over 1000 people taking part last year, doubling in size since 2010, allowing even more families to take part.

With health and fitness becoming increasingly more popular amongst families, the organisers found that last year, many local people wanted to purchase entries as Christmas gifts for their loved ones.

Race Director, Andrew Taylor commented: “Health and fitness is much higher on the agenda for many families these days and over recent years, we have seen an influx in families wanting to participate in a fun sporting event like the Bath Half Family Fun run together. Buying entries for the family at Christmas time is a great alternative to the usual gifts and stocking fillers, and provides the perfect excuse to have fun exercising together when the New Year comes around”.

At just over 1.5 miles long on closed roads, the Bath Half Family Fun Run is safe for children wanting to take part, while also being ideal for families with pushchairs that want to walk the course, and those new to running.

Andrew added: “The Fun Run provides an opportunity for the whole community to get involved in the Bath Half whilst offering children and families a unique opportunity to run on traffic free roads in the city centre. There is always a great atmosphere and the run attracts people of all ages and all abilities.

“As well as being an ideal event for family participation, the Bath Half Family Fun Run is ideal for those that have recently taken up running who don’t feel ready to enter a long distance race just yet. It starts and finishes under the main race gantry on Great Pulteney Street, which gives entrants the same thrill of crossing the finish line as those doing the half marathon. Places are limited and we always sell out before the day, so I would encourage those wanting to take part next March to sign up now”.

Karl Gwilliam, Community & Events Fundraising Manager at Send a Cow commented:  “We are delighted to be involved in our home city’s biggest, family event and look forward to families across Bath joining our herd in March helping us to transform the lives of poor African families for good”.

All runners are computer-chip timed and will receive a special Fun Run T-shirt.  All finishers also get a race medal and free goody bag. Entries cost £10.30 for adults and £6.30 for under 16’s. If you register three or more runner, you will receive a 10% discount.
