Race news: Running4Women Windsor 10K - Saturday, September 27, 2014 & Windsor Half Marathon - Sunday, September 28, 2014

Organisers of the Windsor Half Marathon have announced that there are just a few public places left for this year’s race, with an expected sell out by this Sunday 1st June.
The Windsor Half Marathon takes place for the 32nd time on Sunday 28th September and it is one of the most iconic and longest established races in the UK. With the start and finish on The Long Walk, stunning views of Windsor Castle and the 13.1 miles run on traffic free roads around Windsor Great Park, the Windsor Half Marathon is recognised as one of the most prestigious events in the British sporting calendar.
Once the remaining public places have been snapped up runners will still be able to take part in the Windsor Half Marathon by signing up to run for one of the official charities, including Gold Charity Partner Scope and Silver Charity Partner Clic Sargent. The full details about registering to run for one of the official charity partners can be found on the website, www.runwindsor.com/charities/
Running4Women are also bringing their women’s only race back to Windsor Great Park which takes place on Saturday 27th September, the day before the Windsor Half Marathon. Originally introduced as an 8K to encourage women of all levels and all ages to get active and to sign up to a running event, the Running4Women event in Windsor was one of the first women-only events in the UK and has now evolved to a 10K whilst continuing to grow in popularity. The Running4Women Windsor 10K is aimed at beginners as well as seasoned runners and club runners, with entry fees of £14.50 for UKA members and £16.50 for unaffiliated runners.
The race village for the Windsor Running Festival, which incorporates both the Running4Women Windsor 10K and the Windsor Half Marathon, is in Windsor Great Park and offers a range of entertainment and catering options for the whole family as well as facilities for the runners.
There is also free onsite parking near the race village for both events over the weekend.
Race Director Peter Hier commented: “The Windsor Half Marathon is one of the most popular and most iconic races on the running calendar, and a lot of runners return to Windsor year after year. There are so many running events and races to choose from these days, and I would like to express a big thank you to everyone who continues to support the original Windsor Half Marathon as well as our women’s only event. Windsor Great Park is a unique location with stunning views across the park and of Windsor Castle, and we look forward to another great race weekend this September.”
