Charterhouse Club Trail Run (5k, 10k and 15k) - Sunday, October 19, 2014

Fun runners and regular runners from Godalming and surrounding villages are being encouraged to enter the annual Charterhouse Club Trail Run on Sunday 19th October 2014. Now in its fifth year, organisers have added a 1k fun run for families that takes in the Charterhouse school playing fields.  The popular event still includes a chip timed 5k, 10k and 15k option so there are distances to suit all fitness levels. These longer distances provide an ideal opportunity for runners to enjoy the scenic woodland trails around the school.

Participants and spectators will meet at Charterhouse Club, with the Fun Run beginning at 10.00am. At 10.30am the 5k, 10k and 15k runners will head out across the sports field and into the nearby woodland. Marshals will be stationed along the route which is a clearly marked 5k loop. Runners can expect some challenges along the way as the undulating trail includes some uphill climbs and fast downhill sections.

Josie Tidbury, Operations Manager at Charterhouse Club, said: “Our Trail Run has grown in popularity year-on-year and we decided it’s time to introduce a fun run so that there is a new element for the whole family to enjoy. The 1k route is easily manageable for children and so long as under-fives are accompanied by an adult they can take part. We will be giving every child a medal on the day as completing a 1k is a great achievement.

“Many people aren’t aware how beautiful the woodland is around Charterhouse so this event provides an ideal opportunity to enjoy a run in a great setting. Trail Run participants often return each year to try and better their previous run time, to try out a different distance or simply soak up the atmosphere. The woodland route is challenging but we always receive great feedback and welcome runners of all abilities.”

Kevin Burnett who has taken part in the 5km run said:I thought it was a really interesting route, in a great setting, with some very tough points along the way. There was a good atmosphere throughout the event and it was an all-round success.”

Former participant, Simon Proctor added: “It’s a great woodland route and in a wonderful location. I found the run to be a test as it was quite a tough course and muddy in places. The event was very well organised and the route was clearly marked out. I certainly recommend the Trail Run to other runners”.

Advance entries close at midnight on Friday 10th October so book now to take advantage of discounts. It’s currently just £4 to enter the Fun Run, £10.50 for the 5k, £15.50 for the 10k and £20.50 for the 15k.
