Race news: Surrey Half Marathon - March 8, 2015

The Surrey Half Marathon will start and finish at Woking Leisure Centre on 8th March 2015. The closed-road running event is the biggest in the county, and will take 6,500 runners through the country lanes to the South West of Woking before returning to the town for their big finish! The scenic course is flat and fast, so it’s a great place to secure your best 13.1 mile finish time!

A Kids race will take in a 1.5km closed road circuit in Woking hopefully inspiring the half marathon runners of the future.

The running route will be lined with local live bands, and local club cyclists will lead the runners out onto the course.

The Surrey Half Marathon will be working closely with local charities. Official Charity Partners for 2015 are Shooting Star CHASE, WWF, Woking and Sam Beare Hospices and Harrison’s Fund. The organisers hope that runners will use the Surrey Half as an opportunity to fundraise for charity.

Race Director Toby Jenkins says: “I live locally and had always wanted to put on a half marathon for the community. 2014 was our inaugural event and it was epic. Thousands of runners, crowds of spectators, local bands along the route, more than we ever dared imagine raised for charity, and hundreds of volunteers all working together. What more could a Race Director hope for! We’ll be even bigger and better in 2015. Join us.”

Our thanks go to Woking Leisure Centre, Crest Nicholson, Fitbrands, Virgin Care, Seymours and Runners Need whose support has made the event possible."
