Race news: Vitality Brighton Half Marathon race organisers have today announced the opening of registration for their Youth Races - Sunday, February 22, 2015
Aimed at young runners aged 7 - 17, the 1 Mile Youth Races start and finish on Madeira Drive on Brighton’s seafront and the route takes in the famous city sights of the Brighton Wheel, Sea Life Centre and Brighton Pier.
A total of 500 places are available and the age groups are 7-10, 11-12, 13-14 and 15-17 years, with each age category starting in its own wave. The first wave starts at 09:20am, after the start of the Vitality Brighton Half Marathon at 9:00 am.
Open to all abilities, the Youth Races give young runners the unique chance to cross the finish line and experience the inspirational race day atmosphere of a big race.
Registration to the Youth Races costs £7 (+£1 booking fee) and is now open at www.brightonhalfmarathon.com/take-part/youth-race. Entries close on Friday 19th December or when sold out. Each runner will have their race electronically chip timed and will receive a free goody bag and medal at the finish line.
The Youth Races see a large representation of young club runners from the area and provide a unique showcase for emerging local talent. Prizes will be awarded to the three fastest girls and boys in each age group.
Public places to the Vitality Brighton Half Marathon have sold out but runners can still sign up to run for one of the official charities, including The Sussex Beacon and Laureus. Details can be found at www.brightonhalfmarathon.com/charities/charity-partners.
2015 will be a significant year in Vitality Brighton Half Marathon’s history as the race celebrates its 25th anniversary.
