Athlete news: Richard Stannard, GB Triathlete and former British triathlon champion, will be joining racers on the start line of IceMan and MudMan in early 2015

The 2014/15 Off-Road Series will see participants take to the grounds of Ash Ranges near Aldershot for WildMan, the Army training ground in Frimley for IceMan and the tough terrain of the military training ground in Camberley for MudMan in what is an ideal test of off-season fitness for triathletes.
An athlete so at home in the water that he has earned himself the nickname ‘The Fish’, Richard will be testing his running and cycling at IceMan and MudMan ahead of the 2015 triathlon season. Over the course of his career, ‘The Fish’ has earned more than seven world titles in two disciplines and has broken Masters swimming records in four different events.
No stranger to Human Race events, he also won Windsor Triathlon in two consecutive years, 2007 and 2008, cementing himself in the history of one of the country’s most prestigious races. Richard will be putting his off-season training to good use when he returns to compete again in the 25th Windsor Triathlon in 2015.
On his involvement in the Off-Road Series, Richard said: “The Human Race Off-Road Series is a fantastic way to stay fit and motivated over the winter months. It's the most fun you can have on a Saturday morning.”
If you’re usually found walking your dogs on a Saturday morning rather than running through military training grounds, this is the perfect opportunity to combine the two. Dogs are more than welcome to come and run with their owners in the Off-Road Series making these events even more unique than they already are.
With the water temperature dropping as we head into winter, now is the perfect time for triathletes to hang up their wetsuit and give Duathlon a try as Stannard will be.
