Race news: RAMathon half-marathon & Mini Ramathon - June 7, 2015

Entries into the RAMathon, Derby’s half marathon, opened on Saturday 25th October with a special offer for Derby County season ticket holders who will receive a £2.00 discount (season ticket Fan ID number required) for one week only until midnight on Sunday 2nd November 2014.
The Derby RAMathon, sponsored by Central Health, are pleased to be supporting Macmillan Cancer Support in Derbyshire which is Derby County’s designated charity partner for the 2014/15 season. Derby County are aiming to raise £25,000 during the year-long partnership, which is close to what the Rams’ average league home attendance was last season.
Together we have teamed up and created DCFC Team MAC for all runners wanting to join us to raise funds for Macmillan in Derbyshire. This includes an exclusive package, in return for undertaking to fundraise for Macmillan. Runners will receive a Macmillan t-shirt to wear on race day and there will be prizes for team members kindly donated by Derby County Football Club. To sign up and learn more, please visit the RAMathon website, www.ramathon.co.uk. The half marathon early bird discounted entry price ends this Sunday.
Richard Kay, Race Director “As local runners who are born and bred in Derby, one of our big aims as organisers of the Ramathon is to support the local area. When it came to choosing the Official Race Charity for the 2015 Derby half marathon event, Macmillan Cancer Support seemed to fit the profile well and DCFC Team Mac runners can raise funds to support local services.
Working closely with Derby County Football Club is a wonderful opportunity for Ram to support Ram and we are currently developing some exciting plans at the iPro Stadium with a new and improved route for Derby’s half marathon. Over the coming year it will be great to see a premier event working with a premier club!”
Gini Smith, Derbyshire Fundraising Manager for Macmillan, said ‘Macmillan Cancer Support is delighted that both DCFC and RAMathon 2015 have chosen to support the charity. We hope our DCFC Team Mac runners can smash the £10,000 target and we look forward to making the 2015 RAMathon event a real success.
Most importantly we’ll provide you with a reason to put in those months of training and fundraising, because you know that your efforts are going towards improving the lives of people living with cancer in Derbyshire today.’
In addition to the Derby half marathon, there is also a Mini Ramathon fun run for children and families.
