Product review: PureLime Compression Bra & Seamless B-Neck ¾ Sleeve
After getting back into running more than six years after I ‘paused’ to have my children, I didn’t have much in the way of running clothing left in my drawers and whilst my husband’s kit was a scarily good fit (given he’s 6 foot and I’m 5’6”), it didn’t make me feel that good about myself.
The key item of apparel that my husband was unlikely to be able to pass on to me, was a running bra. Since losing my ‘baby’ weight I don’t have a lot up front, but it’s important to me that there is no movement whilst I run. It appears that in my six year break, the technology behind running bras has advanced beyond my expectations, so I was unsure where to start when looking to re-stock my drawers.
The PureLime compression bra appeared to offer all you could want in terms of restriction of movement, wicking fabric and padded shoulder straps. I have worn it (and washed it) several times a week and it’s been fantastic on all my runs from 5k to 10k, with no chaffing and certainly no noticeable movement! I would certainly recommend being fitted in a shop to make sure that you get the correct size, but I would say that the fit is accurate to my regular bra size and it’s certainly very comfortable (as well as supportive).

“PureLime is a Scandinavian brand.” Their aim, “to provide a range of sportswear for as many women as possible around the world, and help them reach their true potential.”
I also tried the Seamless Base Layer ¾ sleeve top in Volcano Raspberry. This top is so beautiful, soft and fits so well, that I would be tempted to wear it as casual wear, but I’m saving it for my autumn/winter runs!! The colour is vibrant and stunning and is so bright that I have worn it on runs at dusk and felt confident in my visibility to traffic.
It feels so feminine, yet is clearly a performance product as it is wicking, and ventilated to maintain body temperature. I can’t rave enough about this top, I even got caught in a rain shower whilst wearing it as my only layer and the rain did not penetrate it, meaning I arrived home dry and comfortable. I also wore it when the weather was milder and I certainly did not overheat, despite my hilly route.

Unfortunately, a PureLime catalogue has somehow made it into my possession and I don’t think I’ve managed to turn a page without ‘wanting’ something. The colours across the range are feminine, but bold, exactly what I look for in running apparel, in fact, apparel full stop! I would wear almost everything in the catalogue, from bags to bike wear and ‘Gym Addict Jackets’ to sports g-strings!
I think that my running drawer will not be empty for long.
