Pop in the Like the Wind Pop-Up

Run247 columnist Kirsty Reade reports from an evening at the Like the Wind pop-up gallery in Shoreditch

Like the Wind Pop-Up

Since launching earlier this year Like the Wind magazine has fast been gaining a reputation as a unique, beautifully illustrated and produced publication. It’s boasted Scot Jurek, Lizzy Hawker, Emilie Forsberg and Dean Karnazes amongst its contributors and it’s brought a whole load of joy to an awful lot of runners. As if that wasn’t enough, this week they have also had a pop-up gallery in Shoreditch and Run247 ‘popped’ down to take a look.

If you were to gather together a fantasy collection of running stuff I think it would look a lot like the Like the Wind pop-up. There are beautiful photographs and illustrations adorning the walls, all of which I would love to hang in my house (and they are for sale). There is drool-worthy Ashmei clothing and adidas shoes, a nice selection of running books (the author of one of them, Adharanand Finn, called in to sign copies), and some very cool limited edition t-shirts and bags designed specifically for the pop-up. If you’re looking for a unique Christmas present for the runner in your life you would be sure to find it there. Or just buy them a subscription to the magazine!

In addition to the art and products in the pop-up the biggest pull is the events which are going on over the next few days. There are screenings of running films (including Trails in Motion), talks from Holly Rush, Charlie Spedding and Steve Way, a Q&A with Seb Chaigneau and Jez Bragg, and an adidas Street Art Run. They promise to be unmissable events which will give your running mojo a giant kick to see you through the winter months.

If you’re in London over the weekend we highly recommend that you get down to Leonard Street in Shoreditch, take a look around the gallery and get a ticket to the remaining events before they sell out.

About The Author

Kirsty Reade

I’d describe myself as borderline obsessed with running, racing, reading about running, and watching others run so hopefully I’m fairly typical of Run247’s visitors. I tend to do longer races, particularly off-road marathons and ultras, but am pretty much a fan of any distance. I'm passionate about helping runners of all levels to improve through running communities I'm involved in, such as Underground Ultra and Free Range Runners.
