With 55% of people living in the Capital considered ‘inactive’, Running retail specialists Runners Need have joined forces with the Cancer Research UK London Winter Run to support MP for Vauxhall and Commissioner for Sport Kate Hoey on her quest to get Londoners active this winter

The 10km run which takes place on Sunday 1st February 2015 is designed to encourage runners not to give up as the weather gets colder by giving them something to aim for. Runners Need are supporting this concept by offering Londoners support through the winter via their weekly run clubs from Runners Need stores in the capital.
MP Kate Hoey, shares the enthusiasm for this initiative. She said: “Whilst there has been significant improvements in recent years, 55% of adult Londoners are still not doing more than 30 minutes exercise, every three months*. The Cancer Research UK London Winter Run is an exciting new challenge to encourage people to get more active and to raise funds for this important cause. So, rather than hibernating this winter, pull on your trainers and take to the streets of the capital.”
Runners Need are one of the largest specialist run retailers in the UK, with over 30 stores catering for all running levels from complete beginners right through to ultra-marathon runners. “Providing support, information, and encouragement to runners, especially those participating for the first time is core to the Runners Need ethos” said Francine Davis, Commercial Director for Runners Need. “We are really excited about this partnership. It combines a fun and unique event with an achievable goal for all abilities.”
The Cancer Research UK London Winter Run is a snowy themed 10km run which takes in some of the Capital’s most spectacular sights. There are fun snow zones on the course and runners can look forward to a polar bear hug at the finish line.
Nick Rusling, CEO of event organiser Human Race said: “We are delighted to join forces with Runners Need who are perfectly placed to give runners all the expert advice they need to tackle the cold and their fitness levels this winter by taking part in this fantastic event in support of Cancer Research UK.”
