Charity news: Rainbow Trust Children’s Charity, which supports families caring for a child with a serious illness, is offering places for the Bath Half Marathon, taking place on Sunday, March 1, 2015

While general public entries are now sold out, the charity is encouraging runners to join its team to help raise awareness of the work it does in the local area and raise vital funds to support more families that could benefit from Rainbow Trust’s help.

Rainbow Trust provides emotional and practical support for families caring for a child with a life-threatening or terminal illness. Its Swindon Care Team currently supports 125 families across the South West including Bath, Bristol, North East Somerset, Wiltshire and Oxfordshire. Each family has a dedicated Family Support Worker who is with them from diagnosis to cure or end-of-life care and bereavement, for as long as needed. This is the first time Rainbow Trust has entered a team into an event in the South West.

If you’d like to sign up and help make Rainbow Trust’s first venture into the Bath Half a success, don’t miss out as there is limited availability left to race. You won’t be alone on your journey – you will benefit from fundraising and training advice, a high quality running vest and loud cheer points along the route. Alternatively, the charity will also welcome and support anyone who already has their own place in the race.

The Vitality Bath Half Marathon is one of the longest established and most popular city centre road events in the UK which raised £2m last year and £16m over the last 16 years for charity. The traffic-free, fast and flat course is suitable for all abilities from beginners to more regular long-distance event runners.

Visit the website to sign up for the event. Registration closes 20 January - www.rainbowtrust.org.uk/bathhalf
