Run247's Supermum Cally has signed up to the Cancer Research UK London Winter Run - Sunday, February 1, 2015

With less than two weeks to go until the London Winter Run, I was very excited to get home from work to find that my race pack had arrived. It included my running number, race day information and a blue kit bag that can be handed in at the Polar Bag drop with everything I might want after the run.

Now to sort our ‘uniform’, this will be the first race I have run in a team of more than two, so I think it would be nice to have some kind of team identity. I’ve been searching the internet for ideas and there certainly seems to be more choice than I thought that there would be.  From Superhero socks (complete with their own capes) to Pacman leggings. However, given our team name ‘Run Super Mums’, I have decided to raid the ‘Run Mummy Run’ kit stop www.rmrkitstop.com/p/rmr/. I’ll keep the other elements a surprise for the day, check out my twitter feed on 1st February for the big reveal @runsupermum.

Training is going well! We’re getting out several times a week and the low temperatures are certainly giving us plenty of practice for the Snow Zones that we’ll be running through, although I’m hoping there won’t be as much ice on the course as there has been on the pavements recently.

According to the website the snow zones will be “created by film industry professionals who have worked on projects such as The Avengers, plus the Harry Potter and Narnia series.” Perhaps we should be practicing our Quidditch as often as our running??

Alongside all of our excitement about the upcoming race, is of course the most important contribution that we are making (not to the world of running that’s for sure, with our average pace), but that of fundraising for Cancer Research. Our Just Giving page has been blessed with donations from our friends, family and colleagues and it’s good to think that as we ‘Conquer the Cold’ we are helping Cancer Research get closer to their goal of conquering cancer.

The deadline for entries has been extended to Monday 26th January at 9am, so there’s still time for you to join the Winter Run experience. 26% of runners stop running in the winter, don’t be one of them! Get your friends together and show that you’re not the type to be put off by a little bit of winter weather!
