Product news: On Cloud wins ISPO Gold Award for ‘2015 Best Performance Running Shoe’

Young Swiss sports company On has won the prestigious Gold Award at ISPO MUNICH for its lightweight performance running shoe – the Cloud.
It’s the second time that On’s patented technology has been recognised at the global trade show, after winning the same award in 2013 for the Cloudracer competition shoe.
Introduced in 2014, the On Cloud is the world’s lightest running shoe. It makes the radical concept of zero-gravity running a reality because it offers incredible cushioning but weighs less than 200g (7oz).
The Cloud features On’s patented Swiss CloudTec® system, which combines soft landings with explosive takeoffs. This technology helps athletes to reduce their personal bests as well as their recovery times, injury risk and heart rate.
"The Cloud attracts runners and athletes of all endurance sports," says Urs Weber, editor of Runner’s World and member of the 2015 ISPO jury. "It is a lightweight training shoe, yet it provides comfort through the special cushioning system of the midsole and outsole construction. The stylish upper material is very breathable and a true design statement for running shoes."
On’s technology has not only convinced the ISPO jury, but also double Olympic athlete Nicola Spirig. The Swiss triathlete has won several international competitions in the Cloud – including her Ironman debut in Mexico in December 2014. Spirig will use the ‘2015 Best Performance Running Shoe’ while training for the 2016 Olympics in Rio.
The Cloud was developed in Switzerland by a team led by former duathlon world champion and six-time Ironman winner Olivier Bernhard. He knows that this shoe is something special. "The Cloud, with its zero-gravity foam and On’s patented CloudTec® technology, is the lightest running shoe in the world, but it offers outstanding cushioning and impact protection," Berhard says. "Everyone from hobby runners to world-class athletes, who are training or competing, swear by the Cloud."
