Charity news: The Jane Tomlinson Appeal has today announced a Big Charity Give Away of £100,000 for good causes across Yorkshire, Lincolnshire and Lancashire

This week the Appeal set up in Jane’s name announced its latest fundraising total of £7.6million. To celebrate this milestone the Appeal has set aside £100,000 for charities across Yorkshire, Lincolnshire and Lancashire.
Local causes and projects across the regions can now apply for a share of the charity pot, ranging from a couple of hundred pounds right up to £15,000.
Jane's daughter Suzanne, launching the Jane Tomlinson Appeal Big Charity Giveaway, said: "Having just hit an amazing fundraising milestone, we are looking forward to sharing some of that with deserving causes.
"We’d like to hear from as many charities and organisations as possible. There is no minimum award and they can bid for a maximum of £15,000 to support a project of their choice. They just need to tell us how they will spend it and what benefits it will bring.
"We would especially like to hear from charities that work with children or cancer patients and their families. They are causes that were obviously close to mum's heart, as they are to ours.
"Whether it's a tiny charity providing support for poorly children, a service that supports cancer patients or a group that works with adults with learning difficulties, we would like to hear from them.
"It is really important to me, and to all the family, to keep mum's good work going,"
"People still tell us that mum continues to inspire them, which is great to hear. It's nice to know that she meant so much to people. As a charity now, as well as raising money, we're about trying to keep mum's message going.
"She was all about trying to push herself to achieve something and that's what she inspired in others, showing people what could be achieved, even if it shouldn't be possible."
