Race news: Vitality Bath Half Marathon (Vitality BATHALF) – Sunday March 1, 2015
The organisers of the Vitality Bath Half Marathon (Vitality BATHALF) – which takes place on Sunday 1st March – have confirmed the final line up for the first ever Battle of the Bands competition set to take place at this year’s event.
The competition gives local musical talent the opportunity to entertain 15,000 runners as they make their way around the popular half marathon course.
There will be six bands playing live sets around the half marathon course for the entertainment of competitors and spectators. There will be something to suit all tastes, from a blues band to an alternative rock band and even an acoustic folk group, providing for a great atmosphere on race day.
The eclectic mix of live talent set for race day has been carefully selected by the Vitality BATHALF’s Entertainment Manager, Dave Box.
Dave said “We are really excited to launch the first ever Battle of the Bands competition in Bath, and are very positive that it will be a huge success. We received a large amount of interest from local bands and musicians following the announcement of the competition, and have now narrowed it down to six bands.
“We know how important a good atmosphere is on race day and have carefully positioned the bands around the 13.1 mile course. We have a fantastic variety of bands lined up who are certain to get our spectators on their feet dancing and our entrants running to the sound of the beat. We hope that this will spur our runners on to the finish line, helping them to achieve their own personal race goals, whatever they may be.”
After the race, competitors will be invited to vote for their favourite band in the post-race online survey and the winning band will be awarded with a £500 cash prize. The winning band will also be invited into BBC Radio Bristol’s studio after race day to perform a live song.
All the bands featured in this year’s Vitality BATHALF have generously given their time for free, to showcase their talent and support this community event.
