Event news: World record attempt for the largest gathering of people in their underwear to take place at Burghley House, Stamford, on Friday May 8, 2015

This coming May, at the infamous ‘Dirty Weekend’ obstacle event, Rat Race Adventure Sports are calling on all their participants, supporters and Stamford local residents to strip off to help them break the world record for the largest gathering of people in their underwear, by taking part in the free to enter ‘Dirty Undies’ challenge.

For this cheeky challenge, which will take place at 8pm on Friday 8th May, attendees will be invited to rip off their clothes for a short 1km run/jog/walk from the ‘Big Top Tent’ marquee to Burghley House, in return for a free beer and the opportunity to secure their spot in the Guinness Book of World Records. The record currently stands at 2,270, which was achieved in 2011 at the ‘Utah Undie Run’ in the USA.

All men that take part must wear nothing but underpants but women are allowed to wear either a shirt or bra with their knickers.

Jim Mee, Rat Race MD and creator of the Dirty Weekend said of the world record attempt; “On the Friday evening, we would like to invite competitors, their supporters and local residents to come and join us in our attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the most people gathered together in their underwear. We need over 2,270 people to break the record, but of course the more the merrier."

He added; "Don't worry about it being 'nippy' when you finish, as at the end we'll gather everyone in the heated big top tent.  Everyone who gets their kit off will be rewarded with a free beer, so here's hoping we can all raise a pint to a roomful of record breakers."

Sarah Mayhew, from Burghley Estates comments “We are really excited to host the biggest obstacle event in the UK again this year.  The Dirty Undies challenge is certainly one of Rat Race’s most creative record breakers yet and we hope all the local people get behind breaking the world record on Friday evening.”

The Dirty Weekend is the world’s longest assault course, and takes place over the weekend of the 8th – 10th May at England’s finest Elizabethan country estate, Burghley House.
Entry to the 2015 event is open until capacity is reached and costs £145 per person or £139 per person when entered as a team of 5, and £129 per person for a team of 10. This entry fee includes access to the after party.

Camping tickets are also available to buy, with prices ranging from £20 - £30 for two nights and can be purchased after buying your race entry.

The “Dirty Undies” challenge is free for all to enter
