In Run247's annual video interview with Steve Way, John Levison finds out about Steve's break-through performance of 2014 as well as his plans for 2015 and beyond
We first met Steve at the London Marathon Expo in 2011 (Video interview HERE). His amazing journey from a 16.5 stone unfit smoker to a 2:19 marathon runner, in just two and a half years, sounded like a fairytale!
We spoke to him again before the 2012 London Marathon (Video interview HERE) and in 2013 (Video interview HERE).
We didn't catch up with Steve in 2014 when his incredibly intense training programme, an amazing level of commitment, the determination of a hundred 'normal' runners, and the willingness to take a big risk led to Steve finishing third Brit and 15th place overall at London in 2.16.27.
Just a few month after London, having already added all-time British record over 100k to his honours (HERE), Steve went on to set his current maraton PB of 2:15:16 when placing tenth at the Commonwealth Games Marathon in Glasgow.
While Steve did run the London Marathon as a Training run in the end (HERE), he is due to take part in this year’s Edinburgh Marathon Festival (EMF), racing in the marathon event which takes place on Sunday 31st May.
