Interview: We chat to Bill O'Connor, member of a very select group of Virgin Money London Marathon runners
The Virgin Money London Marathon includes a very select group of runners, known as the "Ever Present" (www.everpresent.org.uk). With London 2015 representing the 35th edition, that means that this small club includes runners who have finished EVERY London Marathon since the debut in 1981.
Prior to the race we got to chat to Bill O'Connor, one of this select grouping. Bill is a Vice President of Queens Park Harriers (www.queensparkharriers.org.uk), and we had a great chat about his London Marathon experiences, including finding out that he only did the first race because he was going to be returning to New Zealand shortly afterwards... and is still here!
The London Marathon runs in the family too, as Bill's sister Mary O'Connor twice finished second in the 1980's. Bill was successful in keeping his 'run' going this year (5:43:26), and is now part of a group of just 12, with one DNS and one DNF from the 14 Ever Present athletes that finished a year ago.
