Race news: Asda Foundation Hull 10K - Sunday June 14, 2015

Preparations are nearing completion for the Asda Foundation Hull 10K on Sunday June 14th which will bring thousands of runners on to the city’s streets.

Now firmly established as one of the key events on Hull’s sporting calendar, it will be the sixth running of the 10K which raises many tens of thousands of pounds for good causes.

To ensure the safe and smooth running of the race, organisers at Jane Tomlinson’s Run For All working in partnership with Hull City Council are now advising runners, spectators, residents and visitors that a number of the city’s roads will be closed or have access restricted on the day of the run.

Road closures will begin from 4am and will reopen on a rolling timetable as soon as it is safe to do so.

City centre roads affected by the closures include: Queens Dock Avenue; Bowl Alley Lane, Quay Street; Hanover Square; Parliament Street; Wilberforce Drive; Lowgate; Alfred Gelder Street; and Manor Street.

A number of other roads both north and south of the A63 will also be affected.

The Hull 10K route takes competitors from Alfred Gelder Street to Citadel Way, along South Bridge Road, on to The Deep, past the Marina and Princes Quay, towards High Street, Whitefriargate, Jameson Street, Jarratt Street, Queens Gardens and back to the Guildhall in Alfred Gelder Street.

Hull 10K Event Lead Charlie Tatman said: “We always get great support from runners and spectators alike for the Hull 10K and we are very much looking forward to this year’s run. Some road closures are required to ensure a safe race for all involved. We work really hard to minimise any disruption but, with an event on such a large scale, a small amount is inevitable. We’d like to apologise in advance for any inconvenience caused.

“Thank you to everyone for their continued support of this year’s Hull 10K.”

The Asda Foundation Hull 10K is sponsored by the Asda Foundation; KC; Hull City Council; Hull Daily Mail; Viking FM; MKM Building Supplies; Arco; Runner’s World and Run247.com; banana kick and LTS.

The event’s official partner charities are: Dove House Hospice; Her Breast Friends; Echoes Foundation; CLIC Sargent; Martin House Children’s Hospice; Macmillan Cancer Support; Candlelighters; Yorkshire Cancer Research, Hull Children’s University and the Jane Tomlinson Appeal.
