Race news: Saucony Cambridge Half Marathon - Sunday, February 28, 2016
Pre registration has opened for the popular Saucony Cambridge Half Marathon, which will take place on Sunday 28 February 2016. The event typically sells out in a matter of hours. Pre registering offers early access to the entry system before the event goes on general sale.
The Saucony Cambridge Half Marathon was launched as a new event in 2012 and has grown in popularity every year. Organisers, One Step Beyond, are looking at options for a new course in 2016, which would allow the number of entries to be increased.
Event director, Adam Moffat said: “We’re really excited by the prospect of a new course for 2016. It would be one-lap, which means we could extend the number of entries, but we are keen to maintain the flat and fast course, through the city centre, which is loved by our participants.
“Our aspiration has always been to make this a major event that local people can easily gain access to, as well as some visitors coming into Cambridge. Compared to other major city centre marathon and half marathon events, the entry has been quite small, so we would love to extend it.”
Pre registration is open now via www.onestepbeyond.org.uk/cambridge-half-marathon-info-request.php
It will remain open until Monday 28 September and entries will go on sale from Tuesday 6th October with priority going to those local residents who have pre registered first.
