Race news: Maidenhead Half Marathon are proud to have Xempo as their Official Race Pacer Partner for the 2015 event, returning on Sunday, September 6, 2015
The addition of pacers to the already flat, fast and traffic free course will help runners get their speed just right - suitable for beginners, PB-Hunters and competitive athletes alike.
Xempo will be providing fourteen pacers for the half marathon, ranging from 1 hour 30 minutes to 2 hours 30 minutes. If your goal is to finish a half marathon in 2 hours, for example, running with a 2 hour pacer will help you to maintain an average pace of 9 minutes 9 seconds per mile. There is no need to sign up in advance, all you need to do is find the pacer in the starting pen who is running the same time that you are targeting. You can run with them for all or some of the race – whatever suits you!
Dan Afshar, owner and founder of Xempo comments: "The most difficult thing to get right in a big race is the pace. Most runners start too quickly then slow down as the race develops. To get the best possible result, you probably want to run at a regular even speed throughout. Xempo is all about hitting target times, and our highly visible team of experienced pacers will run round at an even pace for you to use as a guide as you chase your target time. Whatever your goal, whether it's sub 1 hour 30 or sub 2 hours 30, our team will help you achieve the best possible result."
Over 3,000 runners are expected to take to the start line in six weeks’ time for a route which was voted in the top three of the ‘PB Potential’ category of the Runners’ World Races of the Year Awards in 2013.
Chris Donald, Race Director adds: “We pride ourselves on providing a road race that is fast yet scenic – a course to rival all other half marathons. It’s the biggest race on our event portfolio and we’ve loved seeing it go from strength to strength since its launch in 2011. Now, for the first time in the history of the race, pace makers will be there to help runners of all abilities and goals achieve speedier times. We can’t wait to return to Maidenhead and welcome runners of all experience levels.”
