Race feature: Sure Run to the Beat - September 13, 2015

Taking over Wembley Park on September 13th, Sure Run to the Beat 2015 is back, with a strong line-up of DJs ready to entertain and motivate runners as they make their way around the 10K course. As runners enter the Festival Finish they’ll be treated to an amazing party atmosphere with BBC Radio 1’s Danny Howard, Capital Radio DJ and presenter of BBC’s The Voice Marvin Humes, and TV and Radio Presenter Jameela Jamil all taking to the stage.
We caught up with Danny Howard ahead of this epic event…
What’s on your running / workout playlist?
I listen to a lot of different things when I’m working out… Other peoples radio shows, my own radio shows, promos that get sent. But I always make sure they have one ingredient… ‘Energy’!
If I could recommend anyone’s mixes, I would point you in the direction of Jaguar Skills’ soundcloud page!
What do you do for fitness / to stay in shape?
I go to the gym at least three times a week and run twice a week but it’s equally as important to follow a healthy diet, which can be tough when travelling around so much!
Because of all the travelling I do, sometimes the only option is to eat whatever is available on the go, so I follow a 70/30 diet rule making sure that the majority of the time, I stick to the healthy eating plan.
What gets you motivated to work out?
My work is very important to me and if I could, I would work 24 hours a day so keeping fit and in shape helps me feel energised, focused and mentally ready to put in hours of hard graft whether it’s in the studio, in the office or at my favourite work station… behind the decks!
What three songs could you not live without?
Dennis Ferrer – Hey Hey
Daft Punk – One More Tim
Chase & Status – No Problem
What's your song of the summer so far
Format:B - Chunky
Why are you looking forward to Sure Run to the Beat?
Because I think it’s always important when running to listen to good music and I’ll do my absolute best to make sure that’s the case when I’m playing… Plus it’s a great excuse to get up early on a Sunday morning!
