Thousands of runners will have the chance to see themselves on screen this weekend, when an hour long Plusnet Yorkshire Marathon TV show is aired.

The sell-out event – which took place on Sunday 11th October – will be showcased in a special highlights programme to be screened on Channel 4 on Sunday 25th October at 7.05am and on Channel 4+1 at 8.05am.

The programme will be hosted by former Olympic athlete Katharine Merry and TV presenter Kevin Harris and will also be shown on Sky Sports and other digital channels in coming weeks.

Charlie Tatman, Yorkshire Marathon Event Director, said: “We hope our thousands of runners will enjoy the programme; it’s a great chance for them to reflect on an amazing experience and to see if they made the cut!

“The programme really does capture the unique spirit of the Yorkshire Marathon, from our incredible runners’ stories to the fantastic support from the crowds. We hope it might inspire people to start their own running journey in 2016.”

Up to 7,000 people entered this year’s sell-out marathon, with a further 2,000 signing up for the new Plusnet Yorkshire 10 Mile event. Around 700 runners also took part in the Northern Gas Networks Yorkshire Marathon Relay, which split the 26.2 miles into six separate legs.

A priority pre-sale list is now open at www.theyorkshiremarathon.com and is the best way for would-be runners to safeguard a place in the 2016 event. Those on the list will have exclusive access to a sale of places TWO DAYS before they go on general sale.

The Plusnet Yorkshire Marathon is organised by the same team responsible for the successful Run For All 10K series, the Plusnet Leeds Half Marathon and the Plusnet Yorkshire Half Marathon-Sheffield. It stands as part of the legacy of the late Jane Tomlinson CBE, who raised almost £2m by completing a series of amazing sporting challenges, despite being diagnosed with incurable cancer.

The marathon course starts and finishes at the University of York with the scenic course winding through Walmgate Bar, Parliament Street and St Helen’s Square. Landmarks along the route include the famous Betty’s tearooms and the imposing York Minster. Runners will leave the city walls via the ornate Monk Bar and then journey on around the villages and towns of North Yorkshire.
