Organisers of the award-winning Outlaw Triathlon and the popular Saucony Cambridge Half Marathon, OSB Events, have announced a new event, the Lincoln Half Marathon, which will take place on 2 October 2016 and aims to attract 4000 runners.
The race hub, start & finish will be at the Lincolnshire Showground, with the closed road route heading into Lincoln, past some of the city’s historical highlights and then circling the vibrant harbour of the Brayford Waterfront.
Race Director, Iain Hamilton said: “We’re excited to bring a half marathon race to our home town of Lincoln. Having organised events in and around the Midlands since 1991, it’s great that we’re able to launch an event here. Our aim is to contribute to the growing local economy by bringing people into the city and raising the profile of the city.”
He added: "Along with Cancer Research UK, we will be supporting a local charity which is close to our hearts, The Ethan Maull ‘Up Yours to Cancer’ Foundation. They are aiming to fund a home in Lincoln where families can stay whilst their children receive cancer treatment. We aim to support them in their mission to improve facilities for families whose children are affected by cancer.”
OSB Events will work closely with Lincoln City council to ensure that all competitors and local residents enjoy a safe and enjoyable event.
Angela Andrews, Chief Executive of Lincoln City Council commented, "As Lincoln continues its rise to national prominence, we will join the many major cities across the country offering a city centre half marathon experience. This will not only provide a fantastic event for the local community, but also attract significant tourist interest to support the local economy as people from far and wide race to take part in a truly unique event."
