Organisers of the Vitality Oxford Half Marathon are pleased to announce Oxford United Community Trust as its local and Schools’ Challenge charity partner for the much anticipated event taking place on Sunday 9th October 2016. Oxford United Community Trust will join existing National Charity Partner Macmillan Cancer Support and the official charity partner for the Vitality Series Laureus Sport for Good Foundation.
Oxford United Community Trust works with four important key areas of development within the local community, education, social inclusion, health and well-being and of course quality sport coaching.
Caroline Robbins, Director for series charity partner Oxford United Community Trust said: ‘We could not be more excited to be the local lead charity and Schools’ Challenge partner. We use football and sport to make huge steps for positive change right across the county and we would love to get as many people as possible running and supporting us. Seeing a sea of yellow run through the streets of Oxford will be the most amazing representation of local people helping each other to be the best possible version of themselves. All the money raised for the Trust will be spent on your doorstep on supporting the most vulnerable across Oxfordshire, to not only dream, but achieve. And we’ll be there, running with you, cheering you on, and helping you recover!’
Jamie Warren, Head of Marketing from race organiser, GO2, said: “We are delighted to announce Oxford United Community Trust have joined Macmillan and Laureus as our three official charity partners for Vitality Oxford London Half Marathon 2016! As with all of our race partners, we seek out those who have a direct impact within the areas that we host our events. Oxford United Community Trust make a huge impact to the development of young people within the local community, and we hope the funds raised through our partnerships will go a small way to ensure their good work can continue.”
