Nicky Spinks, inspirational fell runner and
inov-8 ambassador, achieved the mind-blowing feat of completing a double Bob Graham Round over the weekend. For those who don't know about the Bob Graham Round, it's a challenge involving traversing 42 Lake District fells within 24 hours. That's 27,000ft of elevation and 66 miles. It strikes fear into those who attempt to do it and rightly so. It takes an awful lot of training, excellent navigation skills, a huge amount of grit and determination and a bit of luck with the elements.
So imagine doing all of it twice, in under 48 hours! It has only every been done once before, by Roger Baumeister in 1979. So Nicky becomes the second person and first woman of all time to complete the double Bob Graham, and in doing so broke Roger's record. She completed the run - 132 miles, 84 summits and 54,000ft of elevation - in 45 hours and 30 minutes. She took on the challenge to celebrate 10 years post-diagnosis for breast cancer. Nicky is a huge inspiration to many and embodies the attitude that anything is possible.
