Following the success of the inaugural event in June 2016, race organiser Goldline Events is delighted to announce the launch of the 2017 goGIRL (Brighton & Hove) evening 5k run and beach party which will be held on Friday 16 June 2017.

Set against the stunning backdrop of Hove seafront runners will line up at 7.30pm to run the flat and fast 5km loop from Hove Promenade, around Hove Lagoon and back to Hove Lawns as the sun goes down.

It’s time to rally your girlfriends, lace up and take to the seafront for this 5km race and after-party like no other. The event will see hundreds of ladies join together to run the flat and fast 5km course which was won in 2016 by Cathy Ulliott from Brighton & Hove AC in a time of 20.43.

Runner, Claudia Marquez commented after the race: “The course was excellent, flat and I really enjoyed running around the lagoon. The food and drinks at the after party were amazing! My little girl and husband came to support and they had lots of fun too. The music, not only on stage but along the course was great too. This race is going to be a must for next year for sure!”

Judith Manson, Goldline Events Managing Director says: “After an amazing first goGIRL event last month we were thrilled by the feedback we received from runners like Claudia and are excited to launch the 2017 event so soon. The unique, relaxed and cosmopolitan atmosphere of Brighton & Hove make it the perfect destination for this very special running event. Although the 5km race is aimed at ladies only, men and families are encouraged to come along to cheer their wives, partners, family members and friends across the finish line.”

Before and after the race, Hove Lawns will be the stage for a night of entertainment – runners and their families can savour the buzz and soak up the summer's evening atmosphere with live music, fire shows, stilt walkers plus great food and drink in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Judith adds: “Unlike other races, we want to encourage runners and their friends to hang out once they've crossed the finish line. The perfect way to end a busy week and kick off the weekend.”

Designed to attract seasoned runners and newcomers to the running community, goGIRL Brighton & Hove is a celebration of all women, no matter their fitness level or ability. Judith confirms: “Goldline Events is a huge supporter of the nationwide Sport England campaign #thisgirlcan and we hope that our event will help to encourage more women to take part in, and enjoy, an active and healthy lifestyle.”

Whether you run for fun, to stay fit, for a club or professionally it’s time to take to the seafront to enjoy a scenic and fast 5km race and soak up the fantastic atmosphere of the pre and post-race entertainment with your friends and family on Friday 16 June 2017.
