Trail run fun for all the family

by Press Release
Saturday 10th September 2016

The annual Charterhouse Club Trail Run is back and now in its seventh year it is set to be bigger than ever. The family friendly event will take place on Sunday 16th October 2016 and runners of all ages can opt to take part in a 1k Fun Run, 5k, 10k or 15k. The longer distances will take runners along picturesque, but challenging woodland trails around Charterhouse School. Participants who register for the chip timed 5k, 10k or 15k by midnight on Sunday 11th September will receive an early bird booking discount!

The popular event grows year-on-year as more families, individuals, charities and running groups are signing up. All runners will set off from outside of the Club, with the Fun Run starting at 10am. The 5k, 10k and 15k runs will begin at 10.30am.

Sharon Carter, Deputy Operations Manager at Charterhouse Club, commented: “Now in its seventh year, the Trail Run has become a well-established local event. We hope that this year’s run will attract participants from across Surrey and beyond. Many runners take part year-on-year and there is a real sense of community on the day, making for a great atmosphere.

“Spectators are welcome to join us in cheering the runners along the woodland trail. We are currently calling for volunteer marshals to help make the event run smoothly. We have marshal points along the entire 5k route so we need a good team to help our runners along the way.”

Over the years Charterhouse Club has received a lot of positive feedback from entrants who have taken part in the Trail Run.

Keith Thomson, aged 68, who ran the 10k in 2015, said “It was my first event at Charterhouse and it was fantastic. I had a few friends running with me and I really enjoyed taking part. It was an interesting route in a beautiful setting. It wasn’t at all crowded and I could keep to a nice pace. I recommend the Trail Run, it is a really super event.

Sarah Hales, from Bordon, commented "It's the best Trail Run I have ever done! I ran it in 2014 and 2015 and will continue to run it every year."
