The Vitality Oxford Half Marathon, taking place on Sunday 9th October, is urging keen individuals with good local knowledge, and volunteer groups to join the organisation team for support on the day of the event.
The much celebrated event will start in Oxford city centre, and take on a fast and flat route that showcases everything we love about Oxford! Around 10,000 runners are expected to turn out on the day, many of whom will be fundraisers looking for all the support they can get on route to ensure they reach the finish line in good spirits.
For individuals and groups willing to volunteer their time, they will be rewarded with a free t-shirt, breakfast on the day, and free entry to another GO2 events as a thank you. The roles currently available include:
● Course marshals to direct runners across the course
● Start and finish line marshals to direct runners at the start and keep them moving once over the finish line
● Rewards marshals to congratulate runners at the finish and hand out medals and goody bags. This is the fun job that everyone wants!
● Infrastructure marshals to help with setting up the event
● Information marshals to provide information on the local area to runners and spectators
Jamie Warren, Head of Marketing at GO2, said: “Race day is always so much fun, and we often find that volunteers enjoy the atmosphere so much that they continue to come back year after year to help out. We are calling out to locals to help us really make this year’s race one to remember!”
If you or your group are able to help out, or know of any volunteers in the area please contact the organising team by emailing oxford@go2events.org.uk or calling 0845 308 4004.
If you would rather be part of the race action, there are still a limited number of spaces available! Please visit
