Edinburgh is undeniably an awesome place for running. One minute you’re in the city centre, the next you’re in Holyrood Park or in the hills. It offers a lot of variety all within a few miles.
So we were really interested to hear about a new ultra on 21st October 2017 - the Ultra Trail of Edinburgh from Rat Race. The inaugural Ultra Trail of Edinburgh sets off with a Braveheart charge down the most famous street in Scotland – the Royal Mile. The course then weaves 50km through streets, alleyways, onto hills, up crags, past monuments, museums, seats of Royalty, Government and up and down 3000 feet of ascent and descent.
The Ultra Trail of Edinburgh is unique in that it’s an Ultra Run in a city – a city like no other. 50km on foot is no mean feat but for all those out there who think they can go that extra mile, you can. And what better place to do so than somewhere so hauntingly beautiful, rugged, knarled and famous in equal measure.
