2XU Hyoptik socks: comfy compression

Carol Martin, marathon running granny, racks up lots of miles and is a fan of compression socks. We got her to try out the new Hyoptik socks from 2XU, which combine compression with safety, using a bright reflective design to make you as visible as possible on the road. Here's what Carol had to say about them.

Opening the box and taking the socks out, I instantly felt like they were going to be a quality piece of gear.  Softer to the touch and more robust-feeling (if you can describe socks that way) than other brands I've previously ran in.  They went from great to greater as I put them on for the first time.  Incredibly comfortable to wear, with the right level of compression, exactly where it was needed.  I even braved running in them without a thin liner sock underneath (that's a first for me) and didn't suffer any foot issues at all on a long run, with my feet feeling dry, cool and comfortable throughout the run.
The reflective feature is an added bonus for night running.  I have also used them for recovery by putting them on after a long run and found my calves and ankles were less achy the following morning than they would usually be.  Fit is as the sizing says on the box.  Due to being vertically challenged the only slight issue I encountered was the length as they came onto my knee cap rather than below.  The benefits hugely outweighed this, though, and it hasn't stopped them becoming my new favourite pair of running socks for training, racing or recovery.  Would definitely recommend to any fellow compression sock wearers.
