Lucozade Sport’s London Marathon roadshow comes to an end as its fundraising hits £46,000

Various ‘donation points’ across the UK have seen £10 donated for every mile run
On 4th April, Lucozade Sport arrived in Brighton to give people the chance to convert their steps into money. For every mile run, jogged or walked at the designated ‘donation point’ Lucozade Sport donated £10 to Help for Heroes.
An incredible £46,000 has been raised by the campaign, aimed at getting people more moving. The tally was a combination of collections from various ‘donation points’ around the country along with Lucozade Sport’s Virgin Money London Marathon Instagram competition; offering marathon runners the chance to win £1,000 for their chosen charity. With 40,000 people training for this year’s marathon, Lucozade Sport is asking runners to encourage as many friends as possible to move more by running and donating one mile each. Once runners find 10 friends to donate a mile, the marathon runner will be entered into a monthly prize draw to win £1,000 for their chosen charity.
Starting in Manchester the ‘donation point’ has been touring Britain over the past few weeks, encouraging people to move more and in turn raise money for a host of charities.
Lucozade Sport encouraged visitors of all running abilities to come down and participate, with all proceeds from the Birmingham participants being donated to the charity Help for Heroes.
“There was a good crowd around the treadmill for my mile; kept me jogging! It was great to get involved with something charitable like this in the Bullring; a nice break from getting back to work!” enthused Tom Chapter, Birmingham.
Kay Bartlett of Lucozade Sport said: “We were delighted to finish our marathon roadshow in Birmingham. With 40,000 training for this year’s Virgin Money London Marathon around the UK and overseas, we hoped that our tour of the UK along with our social competition have made it more accessible for people to get involved and donate for charity.”
The ‘donation point’ and competition is part of Lucozade Sport’s Made to Move campaign; which aims to get 1 million people moving more by 2020.
