Wings for Life starts at 11am UK time today (7th May). It’s a brilliant event for a fantastic cause and if you haven’t been able to take part that is a big shame. However, it doesn’t mean that you need to miss all the action as you can follow our live feed below!
For those of you unfamiliar with Wings for Life, it’s a run that takes place in 25 countries around the world on the same day, at the same time. And this is no normal race, it’s a race where the finish line chases you. All the runners set off together but a chaser car sets off half an hour after the runners and once it catches you, your race is over. Fortunately, the car starts slowly but then speeds up at regular intervals until the driver (David Coulthard in the UK) has caught them all.
Wings for Life is a fantastic concept that began as a vision to get the whole world running at the same time, to leave just one runner standing at the end. It’s not only a fantastic concept, it’s also for a fantastic cause. 100% of entry fees go to spinal cord research.
It’s a huge amount of fun to watch the live feed toggle between countries and to see the drama at the sharp end unfold. And go on Robbie Britton in the UK!
