Race packages confirmed for 2018 Limassol Marathon

by Press Release
Monday 10th July 2017
Many of us love a good overseas race. It keeps our partners and families happy as they get a holiday out of it and we get to expand our cultural knowledge and language skills. Or we get to eat and drink a lot as we're in both holiday and marathon mode. However, we don't all love organising the logisitics of a foreign trip. Help is at hand as the organisers of Limassol Marathon have put together some great packages for you.

Organisers of the 2018 OPAP Limassol Marathon GSO have confirmed that two levels of race packages are now on offer for the event on Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th March 2018.
The race packages are making their return after proving extremely popular at the 2017 event, which welcomed a record 15,000 athletes of all different nationalities to Cyprus’ largest sporting event.
For 2018, the packages have been revised to offer a great-value and hassle-free way for runners to take part in their chosen race whilst enjoying a long weekend away. Combined with the early bird discount currently on offer for the 2018 event, and with flight prices currently at their lowest for next spring, now is certainly the time to take advantage of these excellent packages to #RunLimassol.
The #runlimassol package includes discounted race entry and t-shirt, while the #runlimassolPlus package includes the lowest accommodation rates for race weekend, 50% discount on race entry, OPAP Limassol Marathon GSO technical t-shirt, pasta party pass, finisher’s photo, race pack delivery to the hotel and transportation to the start line. These two levels of package give runners the flexibility to be independent or to arrive safe in the knowledge that everything is taken care of for race weekend.
For visitors travelling from overseas, the #runlimassolPlus package is a highly attractive option that allows competitors to focus on their race rather than the logistics of race weekend. The package guarantees high quality hotel accommodation to suit different budgets, a positive social experience with like-minded runners and free entry to the popular pasta party the night before the marathon race. It is an ideal way for athletes, run clubs, friends and families to experience an international race with maximum convenience and enjoyment.
Entries to the OPAP Limassol Marathon GSO 2018 opened shortly after the 2017 event, and the organisers have reported a record number of early bird entrants to date. With a generous 40% discount being offered on all competitive races until the end of October, those who sign up early will be rewarded with the lowest prices for what has to be one of Europe’s most exciting sporting festivals.
It is also the right time to secure the best prices for flights from the UK to Paphos and Larnaca, the two airports closest to Limassol, where end-of-season winter fares are now available.
The 2017 OPAP Limassol Marathon GSO was the most successful year so far, with athletes coming from near and far to enjoy the flat and fast course, friendly atmosphere, warm spring weather and stunning natural scenery. The course, which covers the spectacular coastal road of greater Limassol, is ideal for first-time runners as well as for professional athletes looking for a PB or qualifying time.
The 2018 event will kick off on Saturday 17th March with the PrimeTel 5km Corporate Race and the Andrey and Julia Dashin’s Foundation 1km Youth Race, followed by the AIMS-accredited OPAP Limassol Marathon GSO, the 13.1-mile Half Marathon, the Petrolina 10K Energy Race and the 5K City Race on Sunday 18th March. Participants can look forward to a festive atmosphere, superb support and plenty of entertainment and activities across the two days. The weekend concludes with a fantastic closing ceremony and after-party to celebrate the many sporting achievements of the weekend.
OPAP Limassol Marathon GSO Race Director Andreas Spyrou commented: “We are thrilled to announce our race packages for the 2018 OPAP Limassol Marathon GSO. The 2017 event was a huge success and we are looking forward to delivering all this and more in 2018. This includes an improved offering of packages to suit different people, budgets and communities, the higher tier including elements such as accommodation and the pasta party so competitors are reassured in advance that these are in place.
“In addition to our race packages, we are offering a fantastic early bird discount and would encourage people to take advantage of the reduced fees while available. We look forward to welcoming visitors from the UK, Europe and all over the world to Cyprus next spring.”
Entries are now open for the 2018 OPAP Limassol Marathon GSO. Early bird entrants benefit from a 40% discount until 31st October, with fees as follows: Marathon €36, Half Marathon €27, Petrolina 10K Energy Race €18, 5K City Race €18.
