As well as the high profile athletes at the IAAF World Championships there is a small team of athletes who have no country to represent. This is because they have fled their own country and each of these athletes has a very personal story to tell about their journey.
Swiss Sports Company On support the Athlete Refugee Team worldwide, along with the Kenya-based Tegla Loroupe Peace Foundation. Five of the athletes from the team are currently competing at the World Championships.
The team uniform, which On created, bears the inscription ‘we are all one’, which was a phrase coined by one of the athletes. A series of films has been created about the athletes. You can watch one here.
As well as the films there has been a photography project, which has been exhibited at the Eight Club London in Moorgate, with contributions from renowned sports photographers such as Marcus Smith, Alexis Berg and Thomas Stöckli contributed. A charity auction was held earlier this week, with proceeds donated to the Tegla Loroupe Peace Foundation.
