Spartan Race comes to Windsor

by Press Release
Friday 11th August 2017

Windsor Great Park Estate plays host to its first obstacle course race on the weekend of 30th September as Spartan Race ends its 2017 UK season with one final battle cry!

On 30th September and 1st October Windsor Great Park Estate will host the world renowned Spartan Race as they finish the 2017 UK season in the picturesque 5,000-acre park, just south of the historic town of Windsor.

In the shadow of the Queen’s residence, Windsor Castle, Windsor Great Park Estate will transform from a place of peace and natural beauty to the chaos of obstacle paradise for fitness fanatics and outdoor enthusiasts, as racers take on their next life challenge in the form of the world’s best obstacle course race.

The famous park will be packed with 50 of Spartan’s famous obstacles alongside some new blockades. Race goers will be subject to an event that will test their mental strength, grit, perseverance and endurance over either the Spartan Sprint (5k+) or the Spartan Beast (20k+). Sign up as an individual and tackle your personal PB or share the motivation and take part as a team. As Spartans say, nothing forges friends like burpees in the mud.

There is something for all the family at Windsor too.  Alongside the main races at Windsor, there will also be a fun obstacle course race for Junior Spartans, where kids can be inspired to get outside and be active while racing against those their own size. What better way for the kids to spend their weekend, than running, jumping, climbing and getting muddy! As well as helping one another to conquer the miniature obstacles. Spartan is open to anyone, and you’re never too young to set goals and celebrate accomplishing them, making this an epic race for all ages.

For the true Spartans among you, the option exists to make it a powerful weekend. Start on Saturday with the Sprint and sign up for the Spartan Beast on Sunday at the same venue. You can collect two parts of your Trifecta medal in the space of one weekend. Don’t forget that every racer who finishes the course gets a free beer, free t-shirt and free race photo; so prepare to make it a double.

The historic town is easily accessible from London, so bring your friends and family and join the other 5,500+ strong racers for a momentous day out in one of Britain’s most beautiful locations.

Sam Young – UK Marketing Manager of Spartan Race said of the event “It is always a pleasure to host events in areas of such natural beauty, and we’re extremely excited to be bringing Spartan here as the first Obstacle Course Race to be hosted in the park. When we start pushing everyone to their limits in surroundings like Windsor, we’ve got the recipe for a truly brilliant weekend. It has been a memorable 2017 season; the most racers we’ve ever had in the UK - and what better way to finish it than in the Queen’s back yard.”

The race will take place at Windsor Great Park, just South of Windsor Castle and entries are now open.
